Far East
About This Spot
Stepping into Far East feels like walking into a warm family gathering, where laughter and conversation blend effortlessly with the aroma of freshly prepared dishes. Nestled on M Street in Crescent City, this restaurant strikes a comforting balance between a casual local eatery and a place filled with personal touches that invite you to slow down and savor the moment. The pace here is unhurried, the environment bright and welcoming, with a friendly hum that reflects genuine care rather than a rush to turnover tables.
Far East offers more than just a meal; it presents a shared experience shaped by both its Chinese and American culinary influences. The sizzling sounds from the kitchen hint at flavors that are both familiar and inviting, satisfying cravings for hearty, well-loved classics. Whether it’s the comforting crunch of egg rolls or the bold, sweet-savory notes of orange chicken, each bite feels generous, crafted with the kind of care that comes from a family kitchen rather than a commercial chain.
Guests often sense the presence of the family behind the scenes — children doing homework in the corner, the rhythm of loved ones working together to serve up food that fills more than just stomachs. There is a relaxed, homey vibe that carries through every interaction, making you feel seen not just as a customer, but as a part of an extended family circle.
Far East is the kind of place that feels like a welcoming pause amid Crescent City’s coastal charm — a spot where families return again and again, whether for a quick takeout during a road trip stop or a leisurely dinner filled with shared stories and full plates. The generous portions and thoughtful flavors invite you to linger, perhaps with the knowledge that you’ll have plenty left over to enjoy tomorrow, continuing the quiet joy found in good company and honest food.

We had the orange chicken, chicken chow mein, fried pot stickers and egg rolls. My son loved the orange chicken and it came with a lot like we will be eating for 2 days so much! The egg rolls are the best I have ever tried the chow mein was delicious and the pot stickers were great. I didn't like the orange chicken sauce but my son loved it. It was just too sweet for me.

Far East has always been a family favorite. I remember as a girl we would dine in at the old restaurant location before covid. When Wen and his family took over, the food was just as delicious but the atmosphere changed. We were greeted as friends at every visit. I love this place, at first for their food, then even more for the family behind the counter. Very impressed with their new location, it's lovely inside and I'm glad they brought back the buffet special.

I've been here a few times and each time I'm beyond happy with the experience. It's very obvious that its a family business, kids doing homework in the corner with the adults cook. It's got a really new build feel to the building but everything else from the food to the service screams homey and filling. The food is bomb. It's got great serving portions and they don't skimp on flavor. My grama loved lemon chicken and this is one of the best I've had in ages. You can take out or eat in, Ive done both and they both are worth the 20-30 min wait for food. Repeat customer for life.

So grateful for this delicious place! We are a family of 5 on a long road trip. We stayed in Crescent City on Christmas day and New Year's day. Both times they were friendly and fast. The portions are hot, fresh, and PLENTIFUL! The containers were packed with food. The flavors were consistent. Traveling with picky kids is hard but Far East really gave us great hotel dinner experience. We thought it was really cool their young daughter was working the register. So impressive and efficient. Our family owns a food truck in Oregon and our 6 year loves to help with the register. We appreciate al true family business. Thanks Far East!

Food was amazing and the family was so kind and friendly. I would give them more stars ⭐ if I could. I would definitely drive all the way here just to have their food again.

Best Chinese food in Crescent City. The coconut shrimp, Chow-main and lunch buffet are . Highly recommended. Minimum wait time, food is fresh & good price!

Been going there just about every week or two since I moved up here. I usually get one of their meal combos. Unfortunately I had already finished my food when I thought to write this so no pictures. Being far away from the big cities I grew up in, what I miss the most is the variety of food and restaurant options. While it may not be your number 1 spot ever, this place is a fair pick for asian cuisine. For Chinese food, while there is not much up here to begin with, this is probably among the best of choices. Helped out alot with settling in when I was sorely missing the flavors of home. Their old location was take out only. This current new location has a area for dine in. Although I believe it is still served in take out boxes, at least you are now able to eat there. They serve pretty sizable portions on top of a wide variety of menu options. Pricewise they are slightly better than where I moved from. The average person might spend around $12-$20 depending on what they get, more if you are looking for appetizers and soup as well. I usually spend more cuz I plan to have leftovers/sides for later meals. I think most of the a la carte comes with white rice. Their combination plates and pick 2/3 combos are decent picks for what you get as well.
